MaryAnne Dimak is an Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences at Parker University, where she leads the Functional Assessment Principles course and contributes to other examination courses such as Clinical Neurology and Differential Diagnosis. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska, a Doctor of Chiropractic from Logan University and two Master’s degrees in both Sport Science and Rehabilitation and Nutrition and Human Performance. After graduating from Logan in 2011, she and her husband Cody moved to Huntington Beach, California and opened Maximum Performance Chiropractic, an active-care focused practice in Costa Mesa, CA.
Their practice served a variety of patients, but Dr. Dimak’s passion areas were serving the yoga, spinning, endurance training, and prenatal and postpartum populations. They built their cash practice from the ground up by gaining referrals through their involvement in the local community and leading workshops all over Orange County for yoga studios, teacher trainings, spin studios, gyms, running groups, and mom groups. She also had the opportunity to serve as a medical provider for many levels of athletic events in Southern California, including the World Series of Beach Volleyball and the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk.
Self-development has been a key component of her personal motivation. Dr. Dimak and her husband could often be found at continuing education seminars across the country learning from the best of the best and constantly working to sharpen their skills in patient care and rehabilitation. Since 2015, she also has served as the managing director, chair, and now a current member of the board of directors for Rehab2Performance, a non-profit organization that serves student clubs in chiropractic and physical therapy schools across the country. The most recent chapter of Dr. Dimak’s professional career started with a decision made to relocate closer to family in the spring of 2018. This opened an opportunity for Dr. Dimak and her husband to pursue an avenue that had always been a part of their long-term professional goals: contribution to chiropractic education. When an opportunity opened at Parker University, they moved halfway across the country to join the faculty ranks.
Since joining the movement at Parker, she’s been heavily involved in supporting student organizations, mentorship, research, and has received awards such as the 2020 Recognized Faculty of the Year Award and the 2023 TeacHER of the Year Award. While the “Clinic/Gym Hybrid” model hadn’t taken off when the Dimaks were in private practice, their practice flow was an example of how much this model is needed and how beneficial it can be for the practitioner, gym owner, and more importantly, the patients. They saw how their practice results accelerated when patients were transitioned to a local gym with a well-versed and trusted coach. Their practice model was Movement is the Medicine – and it couldn’t be more of an accurate statement!
